Project Sponsors and Financing
Within the financial instrument LIFE Nature, the EU is the main sponsor of the project "Large Herbivores for Maintenance and Conservation of Coastal Heaths" (short title: Cuxhavener Küstenheiden, Number: LIFE05 NAT/D/000051), which is carried out jointly by the federal country of Lower Saxony and the Institute for Federal Real Estate.

Applicant and grant recipient for the project is the federal country of Lower Saxony, represented by the Ministry of the Environment of Lower Saxony. The actual running of the project is in the hands of two LIFE project partners, the Lower Saxony Water Management, Coastal Defence and Nature Conservation Agency (NLWKN) and the Institute for Federal Real Estate, Central Federal Forest Office Wense (BIMA). The Lüneburg office of the NLWKN agreed to carry out the project management.
The financial value totals €928,996. The EU contributes €464,498 of the funding, the federal country of Lower Saxony (Ministry of the Environment + NLWKN) €435,698 and the BIMA €28,800. The project started on the 1st of October 2005 and will run until the 30th of September 2009 (= 48 months).Links to further information about
